2026: Another heavyweight throws hat into Osun governorship ring

Kunle Adegoke

Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Kunle Adegoke, has officially announced his intention to contest the August 8, 2026, Osun State governorship election under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform.

Making his declaration on Monday at the APC state secretariat in Osogbo, Adegoke, who previously sought the party’s ticket in the 2018 primaries, laid out his vision for the state’s future.

The legal luminary pledged to prioritize the welfare of teachers and healthcare workers if elected governor.

He also promised a strong stance against corruption, vowing to ensure public resources serve the broader population rather than a privileged few.

“If I am given the party’s ticket and eventually elected governor, I will fight corruption vigorously and ensure that public resources are channelled towards serving the people, not a select privileged few,” Adegoke said.

Further, he outlined plans to boost infrastructure development, improve security, and foster transparent, effective governance.

“The people of Osun deserve a government that is not only responsive but proactive; not just well-intentioned, but effective and visionary. A government capable of driving prosperity, creating wealth, and reducing dependence on federal allocations,” he added.
